8.1 The Russell P. Shriner Music Library
The Russell P. Shriner Music Library was established in 1974 as a listening laboratory by donations from the music department. The collection was enhanced by a donation of 3,000 phonodiscs from Mr. Russell P. Shriner, and the Central Piedmont library later transferred over 2,000 classical recordings to the music library. Presently the collection consists of over 7,000 cataloged phonodiscs and compact discs, as well as printed scores, 150,000 pieces of sheet music, and a minimal number of books.
