Create Keywords

Once you have your topic, it's time to think about how you'll search for it. For the best results, you'll want to break down your topic into a few keywords. These keywords are the main ideas for your topic that you'll use to search.

In this case, our keywords are dress code and student success. These are what we will use when we start searching in the next step.

Think of Synonyms

You don't want to stop there, however. Take a minute to think of synonyms or related ideas for your keywords. If your first search doesn't give you many results, you may want to try these instead. 

A potential alternative for dress code is school uniforms. Potential alternatives for student success are grades or graduation rate.

Now that we have those, we can move to the next step and start searching.
