A One-Stop Shop for Harris Campus Library Information

This site is your one-stop shop for information about the Harris Campus Library services, events, and other information. The Harris Campus Library is located at the Harris Campus, Harris Building I, Room 2100. The library offers use of the collection, technology check-outs, printing, and instruction, as well as various other services - all for free. Academic libraries are an integral part of student success, so we hope you stop by!

Services

Students, faculty, and staff have the ability to check out materials from the library with their Central Piedmont Community College ID badge. The Harris Campus Library's collection focuses mainly on early childhood education and baking and pastry arts. However, The Harris Campus Library also houses materials on various subjects and in various different formats, including graphic novel, DVD, and leisure sections. Ebooks can be accessed online through the Library Catalog. You can place holds on materials from other campuses online or in person and have them sent to to Harris Campus for pickup. 

The Harris Campus library also offers textbook reserves for short-term use.

In addition, the Harris Campus Library offers free computer access and Wi-Fi.

Guest User Computer Access

  • The library reserves the right to limit guest user access during peak usage.

In addition to computer access and collections, the Harris Campus Library also has a printer for student, faculty, and staff use. Every student at Central Piedmont Community College is allotted $16 per semester to be used for printing. You can access your account to view your balance and upload documents through MyPrintCenter. After you upload your document to the MFP printer through MyPrintCenter, log in to the printer to release the document. 

Library staff is always available if you have questions about printing or accessing your MyPrintCenter account.

Faculty 

Include the library in your lesson plan! Librarians are available for in-class research instruction, both online and in person. If you are interested in having a librarian provide research instruction for your class, please fill out the instruction request form here.

Requests must be made seven business days in advance of session.

Students

Need help with citations? Need help navigating library databases or narrowing down your search? Are you struggling with technology? Librarians are available for one-on-one instruction with students. To guarantee your time with a librarian, make an appointment here. Library staff also accept walk-ins based on availability. 

Library Appointment Policies

  • In-person appointments at campus libraries must be scheduled at least 12 hours in advance.
  • Walk-ins are subject to librarian availability.
  • Individual librarians may choose to offer open office hours and/or reserve the right to redirect students to the appointment form and the 12 hour advance notice policy.
  • Appointments are limited to 30 minutes at a time.
  • Students may not book more than one appointment per day and no more than two per week for a particular assignment.
  • Librarians reserve the right to refer students to a more appropriate Central Piedmont Library support service.
  • If a student cannot make a scheduled appointment, they are asked to cancel with the library staff. Repeated no-shows may result in a loss of appointment privileges.
  • Librarians do not proofread student papers for grammar and mechanics.
  • All emails will be returned within 24 hours of the next school day. This means that emails sent on Fridays - Sundays are subject not to be returned until Monday, barring holidays.
