About the Central Piedmont Archives

This guide contains information about the Central Piedmont Community College Archives and related resources.

Archives Guides

Our archives guides are created with Springshare's LibGuides platform. According to Springshare:

Springshare is committed to ensuring our products are accessible and without barriers to ensure inclusivity for all. We use the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 as our guide in the design and development of our products, with a goal of meeting Level AA standards.

ArchivesSpace

ArchivesSpace is an open-source web-based archival information management system. It strives for WCAG 2.0 AA compliance.

Here is their latest Accessibility Conformance Report (2024-12-18). According to this report, they meet Level A and Level AA in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2.

CONTENTdm

CONTENTdm is a digital collections management system from OCLC (Online Computer Library Center). According to OCLC Support:

CONTENTdm is compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). OCLC performed usability testing and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) compliance testing to ensure the best possible result for your users. Full compliance with WCAG will depend on the items and related materials loaded to a CONTENTdm repository, and OCLC continues to make WCAG a priority with each release.

Please refer to the "Limitations of Archival Content" section below for additional information.

Limitations of Archival Content

The Central Piedmont Archives provides digital records in a variety of formats (e.g., documents, photographs, films, etc.). Some of these archival materials may not be fully accessible. However, we do provide descriptions of these records wherever possible. If you require a transcript of a video or sound recording, or additional information about the records provided on CONTENTdm or our Research Guides, please contact us at archives@cpcc.edu.
